What is a .OPF file?
The open standard for reflowable e-books.
An OPF file (usually named content.opf) is the XML manifest inside an EPUB e-book. It lists the book's metadata, every file in the book, and the reading order, but holds no readable text. You cannot read a book from a lone OPF. If you found one after unzipping an EPUB, re-zip the folder back into .epub and open it in Calibre or Apple Books.

Why does my .OPF file look different from the publisher's layout?
For comfortable reading we apply our own typography and drop the file's scripts and most of its styling. Text, headings, images, tables and links are kept.
