What is a .SVG file?
An SVG file is a Scalable Vector Graphics image, a W3C open standard that stores 2D graphics as XML text, so it scales to any size without losing quality. Any modern web browser opens it instantly; drag the file into Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari. To edit one, use the free Inkscape or Adobe Illustrator. SVG can embed JavaScript, so treat files from unknown sources with the same caution as a web page.

Is it safe to open a .SVG file from the internet?
Here, yes. SVG files can contain JavaScript, but our preview shows them as images, where browsers never run scripts or load external files. The security check lists anything suspicious, and you can download a cleaned copy.
Why is my .SVG file blurry in other viewers but sharp here?
Many viewers turn an SVG into a fixed-size picture. We redraw it from the vector data at every zoom level, so edges stay crisp even at 6400%.
How much can the optimiser save?
Files exported from Inkscape or Illustrator often shrink by 30-60%, mostly from editor metadata, comments and over-precise numbers. Compare the two previews before downloading to be sure nothing changed.
What is an .SVGZ file?
It's an SVG compressed with gzip. We decompress it and show it like any other SVG.
Can I convert .SVG to PNG?
Yes. Choose 1×, 2× or 4×, or type an exact width, then press PNG. Transparency is kept unless you tick "White background".
