What is a .XMP file?
The most common data format on the web.
An XMP file is a small plain-text companion file that stores metadata and editing adjustments (exposure, crop, keywords, ratings) for a camera RAW photo. It works automatically when you open the RAW in Lightroom or Camera Raw. Before deleting it, check whether your edits are also saved in a Lightroom catalog.
