What is a .MD5 file?
The most common data format on the web.
An MD5 file is a small text file that holds a 32-character fingerprint of another file (an ISO, installer, or archive). You use it to confirm your download arrived without corruption: compute the MD5 hash of your file and compare it to the value inside the .md5. On Windows run `certutil -hashfile yourfile.iso MD5`; on macOS/Linux run `md5 yourfile.iso` or `md5sum -c file.md5`. If the hashes match, the file is intact.
