What is a .OXPS file?
Everything worth knowing about OpenXPS Document (Open XML Paper Specification) files.
An OXPS file is a fixed-layout document, Microsoft's alternative to PDF, created by the "Microsoft XPS Document Writer" virtual printer on Windows 8 and later. On Windows 10 and 11 it no longer opens out of the box, so add the free XPS Viewer (Settings > Apps > Optional features > "XPS Viewer"). The most useful thing to do with one is convert it to PDF.

Is my .OXPS file uploaded?
No. Your .OXPS file is opened and rendered for you. The first time, a small open-source rendering component is downloaded and then cached.
Why does the first file take a moment?
The first time, your browser downloads the rendering component. After that it's cached, and new .OXPS files open in a second or two.
Why are some images shown as grey boxes?
Some .OXPS files embed image types the browser can't draw (such as TIFF or JPEG XR). Text, vector graphics and standard PNG and JPEG images are shown normally.
Can I search inside my .OXPS file?
Yes, when your .OXPS file includes a text layer. Files that are pure scans or drawings without embedded text can't be searched.
Can I convert my .OXPS file to PDF?
Not yet in this viewer. You can save any page as an image. A .OXPS to PDF converter is on our roadmap.
